Day 4: Ol Pejeta Conservancy to Lake Nakuru National Park

Begin your day with breakfast at the camp before driving to Lake Nakuru National Park. You will arrive in time for lunch, followed by an afternoon game drive. Established in 1961 and designated as a National Park in 1968, this park boasts Kenya’s largest rhino population.

The park features Lion Hills, Makalia waterfalls, unique vegetation, a picturesque landscape, yellow acacia woodlands, and a diverse range of bird species, including the famous flamingos and pelicans. Lake Nakuru is renowned worldwide for its stunning flocks of lesser flamingos, which turn its shores pink as they feed in the lake’s salty, deep-green waters. The park is a haven for bird enthusiasts, hosting around 500 bird species.

Wildlife in the park includes Thomson’s gazelles, Grant’s gazelles, impalas, waterbucks, giraffes, buffaloes, black rhinos, leopards, lions, Rothschild giraffes, and white and black colobus monkeys. The bushlands offer sightings of elands, steinboks, impalas, Chandler’s reedbucks, and dik-diks, while the cliffs and escarpments are home to rock hyraxes and klipspringers.

Day 5: Lake Nakuru National Park to Masai Mara Game Reserve

After breakfast, proceed to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at the camp or lodge, followed by an afternoon game drive in the reserve.

Masai Mara Game Reserve: The Masai Mara Game Reserve is a must-visit destination for both new and returning safari enthusiasts in Kenya. It is a popular attraction for both locals and international visitors due to its diverse and remarkable wildlife, including numerous bird species. The reserve is renowned for offering the best opportunities to see the “Big Five” animals: elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo.

The Great Wildebeest Migration: Masai Mara is famously known for hosting the annual Great Wildebeest Migration, a natural phenomenon and one of the world’s wonders. From July to October, over 1.5 million wildebeests, gazelles, gnus, and zebras migrate from Tanzania’s Serengeti to Kenya’s Masai Mara. This spectacular event features a massive column of animals stretching from horizon to horizon, culminating in a dramatic crossing of the Mara River, where they face swift currents and hungry crocodiles. Survivors of this perilous journey must then contend with predators such as hyenas, jackals, leopards, and lions.

Wildlife in Masai Mara: The Masai Mara is celebrated as one of the world’s premier wildlife destinations. Visitors have an excellent chance of spotting the Big Five, as well as cheetahs, servals, hyenas, bat-eared foxes, black-backed and side-striped jackals, hippos, crocodiles, baboons, warthogs, topis, elands, and Thompson’s gazelles, among others.

Day 6: Full Day in Masai Mara Game Reserve

Begin your day with breakfast at the lodge before embarking on a full-day game drive with picnic lunch boxes. Alternatively, you can opt for morning and afternoon game drives in the Masai Mara Game Reserve, with a lunch break between drives.

Optional Masai Mara Balloon Ride: Start your day early with a 5:30 am wake-up call and transfer to the balloon launch site for takeoff. Enjoy an early morning balloon ride over the plains, offering a bird’s eye view of the wildlife below as the sun rises. After approximately one hour in the air, the balloon lands and you will be transferred to the bush breakfast site. Savor the aroma of bacon, sausages, and eggs while enjoying exotic Kenyan fruits, homemade pastries, and, if desired, glasses of sparkling wine or champagne, following the tradition initiated by the Montgolfier brothers. The cost per person is a minimum of $450, with the price guaranteed with advanced booking.

Day 7: Masai Mara Game Reserve to Nairobi and Departure

After enjoying breakfast at the lodge, you will be driven to Nairobi. You have the option to have lunch at a city restaurant, which will be at your own expense and arrangement. You will then be transferred to the airport in time for your flight home.

Meals provided: Breakfast only.
